About this image
Jesus, I Trust in You. This powerful vertical Divine Mercy image shows Jesus walking toward the viewer with arms outstretched -- not standing at a distance but advancing, approaching, coming to meet you. The two rays of divine mercy stream from his heart: the red ray representing the blood of redemption, the pale blue-white ray representing the water of baptism and the Holy Spirit. Together they form the complete gift of divine mercy -- everything given, held back nothing. The Divine Mercy devotion originated in the mystical visions of Saint Faustina Kowalska (1905-1938), a Polish nun who received apparitions of Jesus beginning in 1931. Jesus instructed her to have the image painted exactly as she saw it, with the words "Jesus, I Trust in You" at the bottom. The specific pose -- Jesus walking forward with hands slightly raised, rays flowing from his heart -- was described by Faustina in her diary, which was later published as "Divine Mercy in My Soul," one of the most widely read Catholic devotional works of the 20th century. The feast of Divine Mercy, falling on the Sunday after Easter (Divine Mercy Sunday), was formally established for the universal Catholic Church by Pope John Paul II in 2000, when he also canonized Saint Faustina. The devotion spread worldwide with particular strength in Poland, the Philippines, and across Latin America. The promise attached to this image by Jesus in Faustina's diary is remarkable: whoever venerates this image shall not perish. This vertical WhatsApp-format wallpaper brings that promise into your daily digital devotion. Free HD download.
