Bhai Dooj Wallpapers

Bhai Dooj is celebrated on the second day after Diwali and honors the bond between brothers and sisters. According to mythology, Yama, the god of death, visited his sister Yamuna on this day, and she applied a tilak on his forehead and prayed for his well-being. Sisters perform aarti, apply tilak on their brothers foreheads, and pray for their long life and prosperity. Brothers in turn give gifts and promise to protect their sisters. The festival is known by different names across India: Bhai Phota in West Bengal, Bhau Beej in Maharashtra and Goa, and Bhai Tika in Nepal. It is celebrated across North India, Maharashtra, West Bengal, and parts of South India. In some regions, if a woman does not have a brother, she celebrates with the moon god. The festival shares thematic similarities with Raksha Bandhan but focuses specifically on sisters honoring their brothers.
