Cherry Blossom Festival Wallpapers

The India International Cherry Blossom Festival is held annually in November in Shillong, Meghalaya, when the Himalayan wild cherry (Prunus cerasoides) trees bloom across the city. Shillong is the only place in India where cherry blossoms flower in autumn (unlike Japan where they bloom in spring). The festival, organized by the Meghalaya government since 2016, celebrates this unique natural phenomenon and has become a major tourist attraction for the northeast. The pink and white cherry blossoms transform Ward Lake, Polo Grounds, and several streets of Shillong into spectacular displays. The festival features live music performances (Shillong is known as the Rock Capital of India), cultural shows, food stalls, beauty pageants, traditional Khasi dance performances, and a cherry blossom fashion show. Photography competitions and walks through the blossom-lined streets attract visitors from across India. The festival promotes Meghalaya tourism and highlights the unique biodiversity of the Khasi Hills. It typically lasts two to three days and coincides with pleasant autumn weather in the hill station.
