Chithirai Thiruvizha Wallpapers

Chithirai Thiruvizha is the grand annual festival at the Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, celebrated over 15 days in the Tamil month of Chithirai (April-May). The festival reenacts the divine marriage of Goddess Meenakshi (a form of Parvati) with Lord Sundareswarar (Shiva) and the subsequent coronation of Meenakshi as the queen of Madurai. Over a million devotثees witness the celestial wedding (Thirukalyanam) on the tenth day. The festival also includes the Ther Thiruvizha (chariot festival) where massive temple chariots are pulled through the four Mada streets surrounding the temple. The Alagar festival, where Lord Vishnu (as Kallazhagar from the Alagar Koil) enters the Vaigai River, marks the final event. This unique tradition where both Shaivite and Vaishnavite deities participate in the same festival reflects the religious harmony of Madurai. The Meenakshi Temple, with its iconic colorful gopurams (towers) featuring thousands of sculptures, generates enormous search interest for images and wallpapers throughout the year.
