Hornbill Festival Wallpapers
The Hornbill Festival is a vibrant cultural extravaganza held annually from December 1-10 at the Naga Heritage Village in Kisama, near Kohima, Nagaland. Named after the Indian hornbill bird, which is revered by most Naga tribes, the festival showcases the rich cultural heritage of all major Naga tribes in one grand celebration. Organized by the Nagaland State Government, it features traditional Naga warrior dances, folk songs, indigenous games, traditional wrestling, archery, the famous Naga chili-eating competition, and authentic Naga cuisine. Each of the major tribes (Angami, Ao, Konyak, Sema, Lotha, Chakhesang, and others) sets up traditional morungs (youth dormitories) displaying their unique cultural artifacts, costumes, and traditions. The festival also includes a rock music contest, beauty pageant, and night carnival. It has become the most popular tourist event in Northeast India, attracting visitors from across the world and serving as a powerful cultural preservation platform.
