Pushkar Mela is one of the largest camel fairs in the world, held annually in the town of Pushkar, Rajasthan, during the month of Kartik (October-November). The five-day fair attracts over 200,000 people and features the trading of thousands of camels, horses, and cattle along with a vibrant cultural program. Beyond the livestock fair, Pushkar Mela has deep religious significance as it coincides with Kartik Purnima, when devotees take a sacred dip in Pushkar Lake, one of the most sacred lakes in Hinduism. The Brahma Temple in Pushkar is one of the very few temples dedicated to Lord Brahma in the world. The fair features camel races, camel decoration competitions, longest moustache contest, folk music and dance performances, and a large handicraft bazaar. The evening aartis at the 52 ghats of Pushkar Lake with hundreds of oil lamps create a magical atmosphere. The festival has become a major international tourist attraction, drawing visitors from across the globe to experience this unique blend of commerce and spirituality.
