Sangai Festival Wallpapers

The Sangai Festival is the biggest annual tourism event of Manipur, held from November 21-30 at multiple venues in Imphal. Named after the endangered Manipur brow-antlered deer (Sangai), the state animal found only in the floating Keibul Lamjao National Park on Loktak Lake, the festival showcases the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of Manipur. The festival features traditional dances including the graceful Ras Leela (declared a classical dance form), Thang Ta (Manipuri martial arts with sword and spear), Lai Haraoba (ritual dance), and Kabui Naga dances. Indigenous sports like Mukna (traditional wrestling), Sagol Kangjei (polo, which originated in Manipur), and Yubi Lakpi (coconut rugby) are demonstrated. The festival also promotes Manipuri handloom and handicrafts, organic produce, and local cuisine. Various tribal communities of Manipur — Meitei, Naga, Kuki, and others — participate, making it a celebration of the state multi-ethnic cultural mosaic.
