Tarnetar Mela Wallpapers
Tarnetar Mela is a vibrant tribal fair held annually at the Trinetreshwar Mahadev Temple in Tarnetar village, Surendranagar district, Gujarat. Held on the fourth, fifth, and sixth days of the bright half of the Hindu month Bhadrapada (August-September), it is traditionally a matchmaking fair where eligible young men and women of the Koli, Bharwad, Rabari, and other pastoral communities come to find life partners. Young men carry ornately embroidered umbrellas (chhatris) and dress in their finest traditional attire to attract potential brides. The fair is believed to be connected to the legend of Arjuna winning Draupadi hand in the Swayamvar by piercing a fish eye. Folk dances including the Hudo, Rasda, and traditional music of drums and shehnai create a festive atmosphere. The fair also features cattle trading, handicraft stalls, and competitions. Gujarat government promotes it as a major cultural tourism event. The Tarnetar embroidery style, featured prominently in the umbrella decorations, is a recognized craft tradition of the region.
