This supreme form was revealed during the battle to rescue Lord Rama and Lakshmana from the clutches of Ahiravana in Patala (the netherworld). To extinguish five mystical lamps simultaneously, Hanuman manifested five heads: his own Vanara face (center), Narasimha the man-lion (south), Garuda the divine eagle (west), Varaha the boar incarnation (north), and Hayagriva the horse-faced avatar (skyward). Each face represents mastery over a direction and a specific divine power. Ten mighty arms wield an array of sacred weapons — sword, mace, discus, trident, shield, and more. Golden divine light radiates from this cosmic form, symbolizing the union of five avatars of Vishnu. Worshipping Panchmukhi Hanuman is believed to ward off all evil and grant protection in all five directions.
