Lord Vishnu in his majestic full-body form -- blue skin, four arms holding the Shankha (conch), Sudarshana Chakra (discus), Gada (mace), and Padma (lotus) -- standing on a lotus while the great Garuda (divine eagle) is visible below in a star-filled cosmic background. The golden crown and elaborate ornaments reflect the light against the deep darkness of the universe. Vishnu is the Preserver of the cosmos in the Hindu trimurti -- the deity who maintains the order of existence between Brahma's creation and Shiva's dissolution. He has descended to earth in ten major avatars (Dashavataras) whenever cosmic balance has been threatened, including as Matsya (fish), Kurma (tortoise), Varaha (boar), Narasimha (half-lion), Vamana (dwarf), Parashurama, Rama, Krishna, Buddha, and the future Kalki.
