About this image
Eyes closed. Hands open. The posture of someone who has decided that what they can feel matters more than what they can see. There is a deliberateness to this image that matches the grammar of 2 Corinthians 5:7. Paul does not say "we happen to walk by faith." He says we walk by faith -- present tense, active voice. It is a choice made repeatedly, not a condition that happens to you. The closed eyes are not ignorance. They are prioritization. When you close your eyes during prayer, you are not blocking information. You are choosing which input channel to trust. Sight gives you the room, the clock, the stack of bills on the counter. Faith gives you the promise, the presence, the assurance that the room and the bills are not the final word on your situation. Paul wrote Second Corinthians from Macedonia, likely around 55-56 AD, during one of the most emotionally turbulent periods of his ministry. His relationship with the Corinthian church was strained. He had been slandered, questioned, compared unfavorably to flashier apostles. And from that place of pain, he writes: I am still walking. Not because I can see where this goes. Because I trust the one who called me to walk. Download this HD wallpaper for personal devotional use.
