Thaipusam Palani Wallpapers

While Thai Pusam is already in the database, the celebrations at Palani (Arulmigu Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple) in Tamil Nadu deserve separate coverage as the most important Murugan pilgrimage event in India. Palani is one of the six abodes (Arupadaiveedu) of Lord Murugan and the most visited hill temple in Tamil Nadu. During Thaipusam, millions of devotees climb the 693 steps to the hilltop temple, many carrying milk pots (paal kudam) on their heads. Devotees who have taken vows undergo kavadi bearing — carrying ornate structures on their shoulders, some with body piercings. The temple idol, known as Palani Andavar, is made of an amalgam of nine minerals (navapashanam) attributed to the Siddhar Bogar. The chariot festival (Ther Thiruvizha) features massive temple cars pulled through the streets of Palani town. The temple generates significant search interest for Murugan images and wallpapers, especially during the festival season from January to March. Other major Thaipusam celebrations occur at Tiruchendur, Swamimalai, and Thirupparankundram.
