About this image
Different plates. Different portions. But the same table, the same meal, the same roof overhead. A family dinner does not require identical appetites or identical preferences. It requires a shared identity: we belong to the same household. Paul wrote Galatians from either Antioch or Ephesus, likely around 48-55 AD, making it possibly his earliest surviving letter. The churches in Galatia -- located in modern central Turkey -- were predominantly Gentile converts who had come to faith without ever observing Jewish dietary laws, Sabbath regulations, or circumcision. Then came the "agitators," as scholars call them, insisting that Gentile believers needed to become Jewish first, then Christian. Paul saw this as a fundamental betrayal of the gospel. If works of the law are required for acceptance, then grace is no longer grace. The overhead view of this dinner table deliberately shows diversity in the details: different plates, different amounts, different arrangements. But the light falls equally on all of them. The warm overhead glow does not discriminate between the full plate and the modest one, the elaborate dish and the simple bread. In Christ Jesus, Paul writes, you are all children. All. Not some who earned it and others who are probationary. Children eat at the family table because they are family, not because they cooked. Download this HD scripture wallpaper.
