About this image
Jai Anjaneya -- the warrior form of Hanuman in the rich South Indian devotional tradition, depicted here in a commanding standing pose with one foot on a rock and the golden mace raised in celebration of victory. The saffron body is adorned with golden crown and elaborate ornaments, with rudraksha beads visible and the fierce yet loyal eyes of the eternal servant of Rama. The dark dramatic background with golden aura is distinctly the South Indian style of Hanuman worship. In Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka, Hanuman is most commonly known as Anjaneya (son of Anjana, his mother) or Anjaneyar. The South Indian iconographic tradition depicts him differently from North Indian forms -- often standing tall and proud rather than in a flying or kneeling posture, with more elaborate jewelry and a more martial appearance. The Namakkal Anjaneyar temple in Tamil Nadu houses one of the tallest Hanuman statues in India and is a major pilgrimage center where devotees come seeking strength, courage, and protection. Chanting "Jai Anjaneya" is believed to dispel fear and remove obstacles. Free HD download for phone and desktop.
