Shiva Purana
The Shiva Purana is one of the eighteen Mahapuranas dedicated to Lord Shiva, narrating his cosmic role as the destroyer and transformer. It recounts powerful stories — the burning of Daksha's sacrificial fire, Shiva's Tandava dance of cosmic destruction, the descent of the sacred Ganga through his matted locks, and the emergence of the Ardhanarishvara form symbolizing the unity of masculine and feminine. These dramatic scenes reveal Shiva as both the fierce ascetic and the compassionate Mahadeva.
