About this image
A meadow full of wildflowers, and two children with nowhere else to be. Little Krishna sits cross-legged in the grass, threading a garland of marigolds and jasmine -- his fingers too small for the task but his concentration absolute. Little Radha holds a basket already overflowing with picked flowers, her expression half proud and half scheming as she selects the next bloom. Butterflies orbit them both, drawn by the fragrance and the stillness. The garland-making detail carries specific resonance in Vaishnava tradition. In the Gita Govinda, the adult Krishna adorns Radha with flowers before the Rasa Lila dance. But here, the gesture is stripped of romantic connotation and returned to its purest form: a child making something beautiful for someone he loves. The meadow stretches in every direction -- green grass, blue sky, fluffy clouds that look edible. Birds circle overhead. Bees move between flowers. The entire natural world is present and at peace, which the Bhagavata Purana attributes directly to Krishna's presence. When God is in the field, the field responds. This storybook illustration works for children's rooms, Sunday school materials, or anyone who needs a reminder that love begins with small, generous acts.
