How many flowers does it take to make a garland for someone you love? As many as the meadow will give you, if you are Krishna. And how many meadow flowers can a small basket hold? More than physics should allow, if Radha is the one filling it. The wildflowers are deliberately varied: marigolds (genda), jasmine (mogra), roses, and nameless blooms that exist only in the artist's imagination. The Banke Bihari Temple uses kilograms of flowers daily, and during Phool Bangla (flower palace) festivals, the entire deity altar is constructed from fresh blooms.
