On the 9th of Dhul Hijjah each year, an event occurs that is often called "Hajj is Arafat" -- for the standing on the plain of Arafat (Wuquf) is the central pillar of the entire Hajj pilgrimage, without which no Hajj is valid. This HD landscape wallpaper captures the vast plain of Arafat at sunrise, with the Jabal al-Rahmah (the Mount of Mercy) rising at the center -- a rocky hill where the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) delivered his Farewell Sermon to 124,000 companions in 632 CE, outlining the fundamental principles of Islamic brotherhood, women's rights, economic justice, and the completion of divine guidance. The Farewell Sermon is one of the most significant speeches in human history, delivered on this exact hill. From sunset on the 9th to sunset on the 10th, pilgrims make dua (supplication) on this plain in what is considered the most powerful opportunity for answered prayer in the Islamic calendar. The Prophet said: "There is no day on which Allah frees more people from the Fire than the Day of Arafah." On this day, pilgrims in white ihram (seamless garments representing equality before God) fill the entire plain -- 3-4 million people of every nationality, race, and language, all standing together in prayer, all dressed identically, all facing the same direction, all asking the same God for mercy.
