The Rawdah -- the garden of paradise. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Between my house and my pulpit is a garden from the gardens of paradise, and my pulpit is upon my fountain (hawd)." The area between his tomb and his original pulpit (minbar) -- now marked by the famous green carpet within Masjid an-Nabawi -- is known as the Rawdah al-Sharifah (the Noble Garden) and is considered one of the most blessed spots on earth. This intimate HD wallpaper captures the Rawdah interior at its most serene: the distinctive green carpet stretching across the prayer area, the ornate columns painted in the Ottoman style with arabesque patterns, and the mihrab (prayer niche indicating the direction of Mecca) visible at the far end. The green carpet of the Rawdah is intentionally distinct from the red carpet that covers the rest of the mosque -- marking this sacred zone so that every visitor knows when they are standing in the spot described as a garden of paradise. To pray two rak'ah (units) of prayer in the Rawdah and make du'a (supplication) is the aspiration of every Muslim who visits Medina. The columns of the mosque carry historical memory -- the original mosque had palm tree trunks as columns, and the Prophet would lean against the central one to deliver his khutbah (sermon).
