About this image
The Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib) in Amritsar shines in its full Baisakhi glory in this spectacular HD wallpaper. The entire golden facade glows against the deep twilight blue sky, reflected perfectly in the sacred Amrit Sarovar (Pool of Nectar). Colorful Baisakhi decorations and lights adorn the walkways around the pool, Sikh devotees in bright turbans and festive attire fill the marble parikrama, and fireworks burst in the darkening sky above. The Nishan Sahib — the Sikh triangular flag — flutters in the foreground. The mirror-perfect water reflection creates a symmetrical double image, as if two Golden Temples celebrate Baisakhi simultaneously. Baisakhi (also spelled Vaisakhi) is observed on April 13-14 every year and holds profound historical significance for Sikhs. On Baisakhi 1699, at Anandpur Sahib, Guru Gobind Singh Ji convened a massive assembly and created the Khalsa — the community of initiated Sikhs. He called for volunteers willing to sacrifice their lives for righteousness. Five brave men — the Panj Pyare (Five Beloved Ones) — stepped forward. Guru Gobind Singh initiated them as the first Khalsa members and then asked them to initiate him in return. This moment transformed Sikhism from a spiritual movement into a community with a distinct identity, code of conduct, and commitment to justice. Baisakhi also marks the spring harvest in Punjab, making it doubly celebratory. Free HD download.
