Kullu Dussehra Wallpapers

Kullu Dussehra is a unique week-long celebration that begins on the day Dussehra ends in the rest of India. It is a grand assembly of over 200 local deities (devtas) from across the Kullu Valley in Himachal Pradesh, who are brought on palanquins to the Dhalpur Maidan to pay homage to Lord Raghunath (Rama), the presiding deity of Kullu. The tradition began in the 17th century when Raja Jagat Singh brought the idol of Raghunath from Ayodhya. The festival was listed as an International festival by the Indian government in 1972. Colorful processions of devotees carrying their village deities on decorated raths (chariots) and palanquins converge on Kullu town from surrounding villages. Folk dances, including the traditional Nati (the world largest folk dance, per Guinness Records), music, and cultural performances fill the valley. The Rath Yatra on the first day, when Lord Raghunath chariot is pulled through the streets, is the highlight. The week-long fair features handicraft stalls, food courts, and cultural competitions attracting tourists from across the world.
