King Janaka bends down, and there she is -- a baby, perfect, golden, looking up at him with eyes that seem to already know everything that will happen. This HD wallpaper imagines that moment with the warmth and wonder it deserves. Mithila, Janaka's kingdom, was located in what is now the Tirhut region of Bihar and the adjacent Terai region of Nepal. The Janakpur temple in Nepal marks the traditional site of Sita's discovery and is one of the most important pilgrimage destinations for devotees of the Ramayana. The agricultural landscape is not decorative but essential. Sita is the goddess of cultivated land -- distinct from the wild forests and mountains associated with other deities. She represents the partnership between human effort and divine provision that makes agriculture possible. The furrow is where human labor meets earth's generosity, and Sita is the embodiment of that meeting. Janaka named her Sita, raised her as his own daughter, and eventually set her wedding as a challenge: whoever could lift and string the divine bow of Shiva would marry her. Rama broke the bow in two.
